This week marked an exciting milestone for the Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) project. We delivered comprehensive training on co-production for leaders to Headteachers and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinators (SENDCOs). The engagement from the schools was outstanding, creating an atmosphere of collaboration we are eager to build on as we begin school visits after the half-term break.
The PINS initiative aims to foster an inclusive environment for neurodiverse students, ensuring that their unique needs are met within the educational system. By equipping school leaders with the right tools and knowledge for effective co-production, we are taking significant strides toward creating a more inclusive educational landscape.
Participating Schools
We are thrilled to announce the schools participating in the PINS project this year:
Barlestone C of E Primary
Battling Brook Primary School
Diesworth Primary School
Dunton Bassett Primary School
Fairfield Primary School
Fleckney C of E Primary School
Hathern Primary School
Houghton on the Hill C of E Primary School
Little Hill Primary School
Rothley C of E Primary School
Stonebow Primary School
The Pastures Primary School
Thistly Meadow Primary School
Each of these schools brings a unique perspective and a specific set of challenges. For example, some schools may focus on sensory-friendly classroom designs, while others might prioritise creating peer support groups. We are excited to work closely with them to implement co-production strategies that will truly benefit their neurodiverse students.
Looking to the Future
The PINS training this week has laid a strong foundation for our upcoming initiatives. With the dedication of Headteachers and SENDCOs, we are optimistic about the positive changes that will unfold in the coming months. Together, we can empower schools to embrace neurodiversity and foster an environment where every student can thrive.
As we move forward, we encourage all stakeholders in education to continue advocating for inclusive practices. The journey toward inclusion is ongoing, and every step we take brings us closer to a brighter future for all students.
