Speech, Language & Communication Toolkit

There is now a Parent/ Carer toolkit available with speech, language and communication advice for families.

  • This toolkit can be used by all parents/ carers and family members, whether you have concerns about your child’s speech and language development or not.

  • You will be guided through how speech, language and communication skills develop from 0-11 years, so you can know what to expect, at what age, and when you may need to raise concerns.

  • The toolkit includes advice, signposting and videos for you to know how best to support your child’s on-going communication development.

  • There is information about how speech, language and communication can be impacted by factors such as screen time and dummy use.

  • It also provides further information about what to do if you have concerns and feel your child may require additional support.

  • The toolkit has been created by the Leicestershire Partnership Trust’s Speech and Language Therapy Service, with support from the local authorities.

You can find the parent/ carer toolkit on both our ‘Health for Under 5s’ and ‘Health for Kids’ websites. Please click on the link below or scan the QR code to see it for yourself.
